Premium Kishu Binchotan: 15kg Pack - Made in Japan
Binchotan charcoal from the Kishu province of Japan (紀州備長炭), also known as Wakayama white charcoal, is considered the premium form of Japanese white charcoal. As the birthplace of Japanese binchotan, Kishu's exceptional quality makes it highly sought after, often resulting in limited supply and frequent stock shortages throughout the year.
Traditionalists believe that only binchotan produced in select regions of Japan can truly be called binchotan, with Kishu recognized as the top source and Tosa ranked second:
- Kishu (Wakayama)
- Tosa (Kochi)
- Hyuga (Miyazaki)
Since the supply is limited, we will get whatever cuts we can find for Kinshu—sometimes small, sometimes quarter-sized—but they are all user-friendly for different types of small to large grills.
The difference in results can be significant, so always ask where your binchotan was produced if it is not stated.
